Who are we hating on for hating on someone?

Scotty Kilmer, famous YouTube who bullshitted his way to one one of the top car channels by telling people to buy carburated cars, fear technology and hate every German automaker

I only hate VW because my last one was so difficult to work on and the plastics all disintegrated. I am very happy with my easy to work on cheap Hyundai.

His whine about MBs is especially amusing. I think a MB salesman either had a fling with his mom or stole his wife.

Pls no

The last straw was a “Porsches are the worst sportscars” video where he looks at a prestine 986, and says it is bad because mid engines are hard to work on, the ride is bad because of low pros (let me remind you that the 986 is on 17s with some good sidewall for a sports car) and that it’s lost 50k $ in value in 15 years. That’s exactly why it’s a bad sports car, because it isn’t a 40 year old corolla

Obviously we need to buy carburators... They are so efficient and eco friendly!

Nobody is targeting you, like whatever brand you want
Scotty just makes stuff up because all of his viewers are boomers who hate technology

It’s like talking to my dad: lots of roundabout bullshit that concludes with ‘70s era advice.

Pls yes.
How’s the 525i by the way?

It’d be interesting to see how much time he’s spent in one as a driver or passenger. Oh, we know the answer to that.
Corolla people probably “get it” less than some others.

I stopped watching his videos so long ago that I actually forgot why I disliked the guy.
Hesitant to contribute to his YouTube views just to jog my memory, I looked up Tavarish’s article on him, and surprisingly found myself agreeing with some of Kilmer’s ideas. Like how modern Mercedes cars are hilariously complicated, and difficult to maintain (although that might be nothing more than a reflection of my own intimidation towards working on them).
I kept scrolling, and then I found it. The dealbreaker. Compression fittings on brake lines. Yup, I remember now. This guy’s a hack.

This guy sounds like a turd.

His Mercedes and other German brand hate has gotten much less straightforward recently, saying a sports car must have a front engine and a great ride, and can’t depreciate after 15 years

I didn’t know he existed and now I do and I hate this guy. Wha a freaking idiot. There is also no way you’d pay $7400 for a 911 catalytic converter replacement. OEM or really nice aftermarket parts cost $2000-2500 for the set if you don’t shop around at all. And they are super, duper accessible. I could change a set in 2 hours.

Huh. Well that kinda echoes some of my own personal preferences, but that’s hardly the final word on what makes a good sports car.

I saw one of his videos like 4 years ago.
1 he’s insanely annoying
2 my 9 year old knows as much about cars as he does.

Flare nuts work so nice I don’t get why you would mess with that.
